African Restaurant Week Festival on August 24 and 25 12pm – 7pm on both days.

This event is brought to you in partnership with the Mayor Ras J. Baraka’s Office in the City of Newark, Director of International Relations Deputy Mayor Ligia de Freitas and the Newark City Parks Foundation, Inc and is being held in the Arts & Education District.

Music stage/Live Performances, DJ Sets Spinning (Afrobeat, Amapiano, R&B, Soca and more )

What type of food will be available? African, Soul Food and Caribbean food.

Are there vegan and vegetarian options? Yes most of the food vendors will be providing vegan/vegetarian options.

When does the jollof Tasting event begin? It begins at 4pm till 5pm on Sunday. We have about 10 tasting judges. More details to follow

What countries are participating in the Jollof Rice Competition? Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Liberia, Sierra Leone.

How is the winner selected? The winner is selected by both tasting judges and attendees. The votes of the tasting judges. Each judge’s vote counts for 20 and attendee votes count for one.
